nora chipaumire dompelt ons onder in een live anti-genre werk, een combinatie van geluid, schilderkunst, sculptuur en performance. De installatie krijgt onder meer de vorm van een Zimbabwaanse shabini: een huiselijke bar waar burgers de mogelijkheden van verzet en opstand tegenover de politieke machten verkennen. Tussen de grootschalige plastic schilderijen, ontstaat een ruimte waarin chipaumire via lichamelijke en sonische expressie door taal opgelegde grenzen overstijgt.

nora chipaumire nous plonge dans une œuvre anti-genre en live, une combinaison de son, de peinture, de sculpture et de performance. Une partie de l'installation prend la forme d'un shabini zimbabwéen : un bar informel où les citoyen·nes explorent les possibilités de résistance et de rébellion face aux pouvoirs politiques. Parmi les peintures en plastique de grand format émerge un espace dans lequel chipaumire transcende les frontières imposées par la langue grâce à l'expression corporelle et sonique.

nora chipaumire immerses us in a live anti-genre work, a combination of sound, painting, sculpture, and performance. The installation takes, among other things, the form of a Zimbabwean shabini: an informal bar in a private house, where citizens explore the possibilities of resistance and rebellion against political powers. Between the large-scale plastic paintings, a space is created in which chipaumire transcends limits imposed by language through physical and sonic expression.
